Home made Hummus

Description

Its made from ground or mashed chickpeas also known as garbanzo beans, tahini and olive oil. Its like slightly grainy peanut butter and can be flavoured with lemon, garlic, cilantro, coriander, red pepper anything that you like.

Could be used as a spread with your toast, pita, naan, as a side dish with your roti, rice or a dip for vegetables and crackers.


Preparation time 10 minutes


Ingredients      

1 cup boiled/canned drained chickpeas

1/3 cup tahini or whole sesame seeds

1/3 cup water

1/3 cup chopped coriander

½ lime juice (juice from ½ lime)

¼ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon turmeric powder- optional

2 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves of garlic

4 green chili peppers- optional


Preparation

Add all the ingredients in blender jar and blend until you get smooth texture


Yield 1.5 cups  

Serves 5


Protein based dip or spread, could be kept in refrigerator for 3 days.
